Situated on the eastern coast of the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, Matarangi is often referred to as the "jewel in the crown" with 4.5 km (2 3/4 miles) of gently sloping white sand, north facing to the Pacific Ocean and is an excellent playground for all the family.
The sand is pristine, the sparkling water clear and the beach sheltered by Great Barrier, Cuvier and the Mercury Islands. Sea life abounds whether you fish, dive, or just want to relax watching birdlife, dolphins or the occasional pod of orcas.
Matarangi township prides itself on its safe family environment right on one of the worlds best beaches. It boasts numerous connected walkways and cycling tracks, nine all weather tennis courts, an 18 hole championship golf course, restaurant and bar, café, hardware/hire shop and superette.
There is an excellent boat ramp and wharf allowing easy access to the harbour and the ocean. The safe beach is great for everyone, swimming, body surfing, windsurfing, surfcasting — in fact all the aquatic sports you can think of.
There are currently just over 1200 or so properties in this idyllic location all within a stroll of the beach. |
