Personal Career

I began my real estate career with Palmerston North’s Challenge Realty in 1995. In 1997 it was re-branded L J Hooker. Over the next five years this franchise went from 6th in the country to #1 in the L J Hooker Australasia network. I enjoyed the journey and relished learning and experiencing working in such a successful environment.

In January 2000 Ingrid & I and our three boys relocated to Whitianga going back to my trade of being a builder with Rod Percival. It was during this period that I was introduced to Matarangi and was part of a team that helped build houses for the Scotts, Andersons, Wrights and Walkers in the Pines.

In December 2001 I re-entered the real estate market working for the developers “Matarangi Beach Estates” in sales and then later becoming the sales manager.
After a very successful two years of sales an opportunity arose to create a new real estate company to enter into Matarangi.

L J Hooker Matarangi was opened on the 3rd January 2003 with two full time salespeople Mike Beadle and me. Later that year we opened L J Hooker Whitianga. Our key marketing, in-depth knowledge and passion for Matarangi has nurtured L J Hooker to become the market leaders in Matarangi with Bryce Neems joining our team in April 2006 and is true to say we are the Matarangi Beach specialists.

Hobbies

I enjoy my fishing & diving, and have only just taken up golf with the whole family here at the Dunes Resort. I also have a passion for Holden’s as you no doubt can see.

As they say if you love your job you never have to work another day and that is how I feel.
